With mud splashed on his long, muscular legs, stripped of the leather that until moments ago had clothed his golden body, his naturally streaked hair flying in the wind, … he ran with wild abandon, knowing the joy that awaited him.
Yes my boy Romy is finally back grazing in the Spring pasture! Who did you think I was talking about?!
And for two key reasons it seems to be officially Spring. First there is the afore mentioned pasture and secondly my friend Cheryl and I have been back on the Bruce Trail for a month now.
Song birds and naturalized daffodils dot the countryside.
Waterways are still a little swollen from the rains.
As Cheryl looks out over the countryside to Georgian Bay beyond, we both know that the long wait is over…
Spring at last. Spring at last! We have not been tempted to run with wild abandon or eat the grass yet though…
Another spring has come since you posted this images. I hope it has been just as inspiring and beautiful. The images from last spring are lovely. 🙂
Thank you for your visit😃 I am very fond of Romy and we’re having some great rides together this year. How nice for your granddaughter to have a horse – so great to get outdoors!
I enjoyed every photo! My granddaughter has her own horse, which I love also. The horse in Your post is very beautiful. Landscapes, which presented in this post, are so beautiful – love them.
I really don’t know why not? (well, maybe not the grass 🙂 ) What a beauty Romy is!
Okay I’m rethinking the wild abandon part! I’m kinda partial to Romy myself – nice to hear from you.
Romy certainly does look very happy that Spring has arrived at last. He’s a very handsome boy indeed. Lovely signs of spring, and I love the bench scene. 🙂
I think Romy is handsome too.Thank you for noticing the bench scene – looking out on how far we’ve come but still have yet to go!
Ahhhhh…Blessed spring! I know you have been anxiously awaiting its arrival.
And starting to doubt it would arrive! Glad it’s finally here : )
Lovely. Congratulations.
Thanks!
That beautiful transition of winter to spring is really beautiful. It is one of the things I miss over here in Australia as we don’t get seasons as you know them. Only hot and humid and wet in summer and dry and slightly cooler in winter. Romy looks to be enjoying every minute of his out door freedom.
I guess it’s what you’re used to but I do like the distinct seasons…if only winter could be a little shorter! Of course a tropical garden and beach nearby like you folks have is an attractive prospect. Spring greetings from Romy.
I still do miss UK’s beautiful spring
Me too!
Spring has Sprung! Romy is such a magnificent looking horse. And his mane shines in the sunlight. I think he knows we are all adoring him. He poses quite nicely and your pictures of him are quite stunning! One handsome fellow.
By the way… The last picture… What a fabulous view on your hike!
Once again, Spring has Sprung! 🙂
Thank you on Romy’s behalf – he is a handsome steed. Glad you noticed the final photo – we are blessed with some amazing sights on our journey along the Bruce Trail.
Romy looks as happy as I feel with the arrival of Spring. No question a large measure of that happiness is being back on the Bruce Trail before bug season.
It is a sweet time of year for so many reasons – the horses have new grass and yes we have the temporarily bugless trail! Looking forward to our next hike😊
Romy looks pretty chilled – taking it all in his stride. Lovely photo of the beautiful yellow bird (looks like some kind of finch??) is it a summer visitor to Canada?
So glad you can tell that about Romy – he’s a very calm, gentle fellow. Consulting the bird guide I’d say he was an American Goldfinch and does spend winters down south. He’s bigger than the tiny yellow finches I’ve been getting at my feeder.
Well, he’s certainly a beautiful yellow.
Wonderful! Even if you won’t eat grass, do run with wild abandon….not across that bridge though!
NO not across that bridge indeed! We were very cautious in crossing it but at least it was there. But you’re right … I may try a little running with wild abandon on the next hike!
Maybe Romy would like to run in wild abandon with you.
Romy looks very happy indeed! Handsome … Oh I just love the last photo 😀
Thank you. I think Romy is handsome and if horses have such thoughts I think he does too! I find the beauty of the landscape we see on our hikes so hard to capture so I’m glad you enjoyed that last photo.
There’s nothing quite like the feel of the Bruce Trail in spring!! Where are you now on your journey 🙂
Beautiful photos … especially Romy!
Romy brings me much happiness😊 We’re not taking a straight line on the Bruce and skip around the maps to share driving distance and reduce accommodation costs. Cheryl lives up near the top end, me closer to the middle and Cheryl’s generous sister hosts us around Brantford. We’ve covered around 300 glorious kilometres, don’t hike in the winter and look forward to another couple of years to finish it.
I hope you have some great hiking weather this year.
We are about 70k from finishing the Oak Ridges Moraine Trail and I’m going to be happy when it’s done. It’s really tame compared to the Bruce and if Helen didn’t insist we finish what we started, I would have given up on it a long time ago.
That’s wonderful. We have some horsey friends so I know at first hand the joy the animals feel when they’re able to enjoy the great outdoors again, all day and every day, Lovely photos too.
It’s the only time of year that they’ll pass on an apple to keep grazing! We all have this renewed sense of freedom.
Romy is quite the beauty! Love the spring picture. The trees are turning green here as well and it fills me with energy! 🙂
Isn’t it energizing though! Many more great hikes ahead for us both.
The green grass and flowers look lovely. I bet Romy is happy! Yes, you certainly have waited long enough for spring! I wonder how the Gnome made out over the winter. 🙂
I keep an eye out for our gnome friend every time I’m on the trail but no sighting yet – may need to be grateful our paths crossed even once! I hope he found a nice gnome hole with a fireplace for the winter😉
Loved that intro! 🙂 Beautiful spring at last. The photos of the horses are fantastic. Gorgeous animals.
Thank you – 50 shades of quarter horse? Horses suffer through the winter too and it’s so wonderful to feel their joy this time of year.
You certainly waited a long time for this. Likely to appreciate it far more than those of us to the south who have been enjoying spring flowers and green grass for quite awhile already.
Yes this is that sweet time just before the bugs come out! Living in a place with different seasons suits me but this past winter was so cold for so long.
